Tesco provided artist's impressions of a proposed 55,000 square foot development on London Road (opposite the old Odeon cinema and extending along Alma Road towards Inkerman Road) but has not yet made a formal planning application.  This could happen at any time.  These were then revised to a 44,000  square foot development
We believe that the development will mean:

  • Increased traffic throughout the centre

  • Damage to the local and city centre businesses

  • Destruction of locally listed buildings

  • Air, noise and light pollution

  • No opportunity for a community based alternative
